About Us
The Boathouse cafe invites you to relax and watch the river
life sail by as you enjoy fresh local food and home cooking.
Homemade soups, salads and sandwiches, as well as a
wide range of coffees and teas, are available every day.
All our cakes and scones are baked on the premises
and our jam is often made with fruit scrumped from the
hedgerows. We buy local crabs, and our smoked prawns
arrive by ferry from the smokehouse back across the river.

Our takeaway service and ice creams mean family
picnics need no preparation at home – children love
crab fishing from the Quay and playing on the sand
and shingle beaches below the cafe. Ask to borrow
our binoculars or browse our collection of local maps,
books and historic photos. We can also cater
for private parties of up to 24.

How To Find Us
From Woodbridge (just off the A12) follow the B1083
until you can go no further. You have reached Bawdsey
Quay! Please don’t rely on sat nav, as it may take you to
the Felixstowe side of the estuary, though pedestrians
and cyclists can reach us by ferry from Old Felixstowe.
By sea, your destination is at N51º 59’.44, E001º 23’.71.
There is disabled access to the cafe at the rear –
please phone for instructions.
